Acceptable Use Policy

Important: Violation of this policy may result in immediate account suspension or termination without refund. We take these rules seriously to protect individuals and maintain trust in AI voice technology.

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy outlines the rules and guidelines for using Elocute responsibly. Our goal is to enable creative and legitimate uses of text-to-speech technology while preventing harm.

2. Prohibited Uses

You may NOT use Elocute to:

Fraud & Deception

  • Impersonate real people without their explicit consent
  • Create audio intended to deceive listeners about who is speaking
  • Generate fake audio evidence or fabricated statements
  • Conduct phishing, scams, or financial fraud
  • Create fake emergency alerts or hoax communications

Deepfakes & Misinformation

  • Create non-consensual deepfake audio of real individuals
  • Generate fake news or disinformation content
  • Fabricate statements attributed to public figures, politicians, or celebrities
  • Create content designed to manipulate elections or public opinion

Harassment & Harm

  • Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate individuals
  • Create non-consensual intimate or sexual content
  • Generate content that promotes violence or terrorism
  • Produce hate speech targeting protected groups
  • Create content exploiting or endangering minors

Illegal Activities

  • Any use that violates applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe on intellectual property rights
  • Generate content for illegal purposes
  • Circumvent consent requirements for voice cloning

Platform Abuse

  • Attempt to reverse engineer our AI models
  • Circumvent usage limits or rate limiting
  • Share account credentials or API keys
  • Resell access to the service without authorization
  • Use automated systems to abuse the service

3. Voice Cloning Rules

Voice cloning is a powerful feature that requires extra responsibility:

You MUST:

  • Have explicit, informed consent from the voice owner
  • Only clone voices you have the legal right to use
  • Keep records of consent for voices you clone
  • Use cloned voices only for the purposes the owner agreed to

You MUST NOT:

  • Clone voices of public figures, celebrities, or politicians without permission
  • Clone voices from content you don't have rights to (movies, podcasts, etc.)
  • Clone voices of deceased individuals for deceptive purposes
  • Clone children's voices
  • Use cloned voices in ways the owner hasn't consented to

4. Permitted Uses

Elocute is designed for legitimate applications including:

  • Content creation: Videos, podcasts, audiobooks, e-learning
  • Accessibility: Screen readers, assistive technology
  • Business: IVR systems, product demos, presentations
  • Entertainment: Games, animations, creative projects
  • Personal use: Private projects, experimentation
  • Development: Building applications with our API

5. Disclosure Requirements

In many contexts, you should disclose that audio was AI-generated:

  • When publishing content that could be mistaken for a real person
  • When required by platform policies (YouTube, TikTok, etc.)
  • When applicable laws require synthetic media disclosure
  • When using cloned voices in commercial content

Disclosure may include watermarks, captions, descriptions, or verbal statements indicating the audio is AI-generated.

6. Content Moderation

We reserve the right to:

  • Monitor usage patterns for policy violations
  • Remove content that violates this policy
  • Suspend or terminate accounts without notice for serious violations
  • Report illegal activity to law enforcement
  • Cooperate with legal investigations

7. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of content or usage that violates this policy, please report it immediately:

Include as much detail as possible: user information, content description, and why you believe it violates our policy.

8. Consequences

Violations may result in:

  • Warning: For minor or first-time violations
  • Content removal: Deletion of violating content
  • Feature restriction: Loss of voice cloning or API access
  • Temporary suspension: Account disabled for investigation
  • Permanent termination: Account banned without refund
  • Legal action: For serious violations involving illegal activity

9. Appeals

If you believe your account was suspended in error, you may appeal by emailing appeals@elocute.net with your account details and explanation. We will review appeals within 5 business days.

10. Policy Updates

We may update this policy as AI voice technology evolves and new use cases emerge. Significant changes will be communicated via email. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
